Competitive

Although the price of oil can occasionally rise dramatically as a result of events such as war in the Middle East; oil central heating compares very favourably with mains gas when averaged over several years. Gas prices are due to rise as Britain is set to become a major gas importer from 2005 with the exhaustion of the North Sea reserves. Oil is significantly less expensive than LPG, Solid Fuel and Economy 7 Electricity.

Modern pressure-jet oil boilers can be up to 95% efficient and are quiet and clean in operation. There is a wide range of boiler capacities available. Current designs are very compact and include wall mounted and combi models. Range cookers are also available incorporating efficient pressure-jet burners with the option for providing hot water and central heating.

Safety
-
Oil will not explode which is a major advantage over gas. Also oil poses one of the least risks of carbon monoxide poisoning. It is recommended that any boiler is serviced at least once a year to ensure it is properly set up and running efficiently.

Clean, Quiet and Convenient
-
Emissions are very low and with proper maintenance a modern oil-fired system produces virtually no soot. Modern boilers are quiet in operation.
